E911 Service Capabilities

Broad-Connect offers e911 emergency dialing service. It is important to note, however, that e911differs in a number of ways from traditional 911 service.

Some of these differences include:

  • e911 is only available at the address provided by you at time of order.
  • You must NOT change the address location of the equipment without promptly notifying Broad-Connect.
  • In most cases, your Broad-Connect phone number and address will be provided automatically to emergency personnel. However, in certain select situations, you may be required to provide this information verbally.
  • Outages or disruptions of broadband service will disrupt Broad-Connect's Voice 911 Emergency Dialing capabilities. These outages may include: power failure or disruption, broadband service outage, broadband service suspension or termination

What broadband speed do I need to use Broad-Connect Hosted Voice?

A minimum of 384Kbps, both directions (upload and download) is required to support the first two voice calls. Additional bandwidth is required for additional calls. A Broad-Connect representative will be able to help you determine how much bandwidth you will need.

May I use Broad-Connect Hosted Voice with my existing broadband circuit?

Yes, provided it meets the minimum speeds for both upload and download. Also, QoS (Quality of Service) depends great deal on broadband service hence we recommend Broad-Connect Internet Services.

Can I use my existing telephone numbers?

Yes. All of your numbers can be ported over to Broad-Connect easily. And we handle all of these details for you. No need to reprint your business cards!

How is the voice quality on Broad-Connect Hosted PBX?

Your voice calls will sound as clear as traditional analog calls. Broad-Connect focuses on call quality and prioritizes voice over data throughout our network to give you the best possible call, every time.

What happens to my voice calls if my connectivity is interrupted?

If connectivity is interrupted, you will be unable to use your IP phone. You can, however, re-route incoming calls to an alternate phone through either the web portal or by calling Broad-Connect Support in the event that your main business location becomes inaccessible or should the situation warrant.

Do I need new hardware with my service?

Only Broad-Connect gives you option of utilizing your existing PBX phones, alternatively, you can buy new generation IP telephones from us.

What are the primary benefits of Broad-Connect Hosted Voice?

Broad-Connect Hosted Voice customers do not need to purchase, lease or maintain an expensive PBX. Customers also save money with free or low long distance rates.
